Two Fossil Sawfish
Libanopritis
Middle Cretaceous
Hakel, Lebanon

A unique slab of two overlapping fossil sawfish displays the specimens in an interesting dorsal presentation (with their backs facing the viewer.) The excellent preservation exhibits the small pectoral and caudal fins, and the very wide, flat body characteristic of the species. Libanopritis possessed very small rostral (bill) teeth and swam along the ocean floor in search of small fish and invertebrates.
Fishes measure 24in and 29in, slab measures 26in x 34in
