Bonhams will offer a new masterpiece of automotive engineering – The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet, one of only 99 built – at its Zoute auction on 6 October. Bonhams is waiving its fees and all proceeds of the sale will be donated in their entirety to Laureus Sport for Good, a charity of which Mercedes-Benz is a global partner. The foundation focuses on helping children and young people overcome violence, discrimination and disadvantage through sport.

The ultra-rare SUV was launched at the Geneva motor show, and by the time the show came to a close, the other 98 vehicles had already been sold. The production allocation for this particular vehicle was retained by Mercedes-Benz with the express purpose of supporting the Laureus Sport for Good foundation. As such, this will be the first time that any of the vehicles made will come to public auction, making this an exceedingly rare opportunity to own one of the most impressive, luxurious and sought-after 4x4 vehicles ever created. Due to the significant interest shown at the launch in Geneva, Bonhams expects the car to surpass its list price of €630,000 + VAT (payable in the country of import).

Housing the potently powerful Mercedes AMG V12 biturbo engine, capable of producing 630bhp, with a peak torque of 1000 Nm, this all-terrain vehicle is the perfect combination of performance and luxury. More than 5 metres long and 2 metres high, with a ground clearance of half a metre thanks to its portal axles, it is hard to imagine a terrain that would even begin to challenge the G 650.

The fierce, angular exterior belies the limousine-inspired luxury within. Fully reclining individual seats with heated massage settings and fold-out leather tables serve to create the most comfortable ride conceivable, whilst a canvas roof which opens at the touch of a button.

he car will be offered as a charity lot, with proceeds from the sale going to Laureus Sports For Good. The charity was founded in 2000 in response to Nelson Mandela's declaration at the Laureus World Sports Award that 'sport has the power to change the world.' The foundation supports more than 100 programmes in 40 countries, all of which are fighting to address issues surrounding health, education, gender equality, inclusivity and conflict resolution.

As the very first G 650 Landaulet to come to public auction, this is an unmissable opportunity for those seeking to explore some of the world's wildest terrain in unsurpassed luxury.
