1955 AUSTIN-HEALEY 100S TO BE OFFERED
At Bonhams Festival of Speed Sale

A 1955 Austin-Healey 100S (£580,000-640,000) is to be offered at Bonhams Festival of Speed sale, Goodwood on 13 July.

Chassis 3608 is one of the 50 customer cars built and destined for the national club racing scene in the USA, first delivered to BMC Distribution in San Francisco. Its competition career extended into the mid 1970s.

From 1979 to 1986, the car was owned by Bill Wood from Massachusetts before being bought and raced by Jerry Leonard of Indiana. In the late 1980s '3608' underwent a thorough restoration with marque specialist Tom Kovacs of Fourintune, Wisconsin. The present Swiss owner acquired the 100S in the mid-1990s and has enjoyed participating on numerous rallies and events, including the 2006 Mille Miglia retrospective.

The 100S is one of the most versatile motor cars built, equally at home on road or track and '3608' is well-known and well-regarded within the Healey fraternity.
