Fine, Large Beryl var. Goshenite

The colorless variety of beryl—Goshenite—is rare. Large Goshenites, such as this one, are difficult to find in the market. The name for this gemstone derives from Goshen, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, which was one of the first areas in which this variety of beryl was discovered. Today it can be found in several countries, but most are mined in Brazil, America, Canada and Burma. The present stone is a large circular-cut of near-colorless beryl known in the trade as Goshenite and has fine luster. Weighing approximately 23.02 carats and measuring 18.2 x 18.2 x 12.5mm

Provenance: Ex. Bill Larson Collection, Fallbrook, California
