1-2. BENCHLEY, ROBERT. 1889-1945. 2 Typed Letters Signed ("Robert Benchley" and "Bob Benchley"), 2 pp, 8vo, New York and Hollywood, November 21, 1933 and September 27, 1939, to George Welch and Eddie [Mannix], on personal letterheads, early letter heavily toned, pinholes to later letter.
In the 1933 letter, Benchley asks his correspondent where he found a portrait photo the author has no memory of posing for. In the later letter, he writes to MGM executive Eddie Mannix (most likely), thanking him for his friendship during Benchley's time at the studio.
2. PERELMAN, S.J. Typed Letter Signed ("S.J. Perelman"), to Miss Sadow thanking her for sending a story idea, 1 p, 8vo, New York, September 5, 1955, on New Yorker letterhead, mildly toned, darkened at extremities.
In full: "Many thanks for your thoughtfulness in passing along that item about the sauces in Harper's Bazaar. I've placed it high on the list of potentialities in my secret underground laboratories, and I hope that one of these days it will flower into something lovely and poisonous."
