The lockplate, action-body and furniture exceptionally relief-engraved with oak leaves and acorns on a matt ground, with putti, the underside of the action-body carved with a gilt archducal coronet above the monogram 'FF', non-rebounding backlock, set-trigger, the barrel release-lever an integral part of the triggerguard, the fluted octagonal barrel with exceptionally fine gold-inlaid work

  • Anton Vinzent Lebeda (1823-1860) produced high quality firearms and was also working for the Imperial Court of Emperor Franz Joseph. This pistol was made for the Archduke Ferdinand Habsburg-Este (1863-1914) the Crown Prince and Commander-in-Chief of the Austrian Army from 1913 who was a keen hunter and marksman. During a visit to Sarajevo on 28th June 1914, the Archduke and his wife were assassinated - an event which triggered the First World War

27.5% on the first £10,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £10,000 up to and including £450,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £450,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.

VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
