An early 20th century French ormolu grande sonnerie carriage clock.

The five glass case surmounted by a hinged handle with lion mask terminals over projecting corners with fluted pilasters, between foliate moulded frieze and base, raised on ovoid feet, the signed and numbered 2.25 inch engine turned silvered Roman dial with blued steel Breguet hands, with subsidiary alarm setting dial in an engine turned gilt mask, the signed and numbered two train spring barrel movement with silvered lever platform escapement, three position setting lever to the grande sonnerie strike train, striking the hours and quarters on two coiled steel gongs. 19cm (7.5in)

  • According to the Breguet archives this clock, numbered 4281 and described as 'an eight day bronze carriage clock with alarm' was sold to Rochester Pusey on 12th March 1920 for 2,900 French Francs.
    Rochester Pusey and Co were solicitors based in Cannon Street, London.
    A similar clock, numbered 2412, in original gilt-tooled red morrocco leather case was sold in these rooms 29th June 2017, lot 81.
