The case with overhanging cornice on a cushion moulding and spirally twisted columns, the long trunk door inlaid with twin eight-pointed stars and corner pieces, over a matching panel base , the ten inch square brass dial with single line border framing the winged cherubs head spandrels and silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, signed along the lower edge 'Daniel Quare LONDON', the matted centre with subisidiary seconds (hand lacking), engraved rose and chamfered date aperture (minute hand partly missing, both rusty), the weight driven movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, anchor escapement with maintaining power, the strike withoutisde countwheel striking on the bell above, 197cms (6ft 5.5ins) high.
