Footnotes

  • This was produced after a trip from London to Hertford on a Green Line bus, driven by the artist's second son Cyril Arthur Power. The tilt to the right and curves of the framework help to suggest the speed of the bus. The open roof directs the eye through the interior to the driver again emphasizing the sense of movement.

We have found only four other impressions of this linocut appearing at auction the last thirty years.
