How do I get approved to bid?

New bidders must create an account with Bonhams.

Documents required for individual bidders:

  • A copy of a government-issued photo ID showing your full name and date of birth, e.g. a passport or driving license.
  • A proof of address. e.g. a driving license, utility bill or bank statement, if this is not shown on your government-issued photo ID.

These documents can be uploaded securely via your account on bonhams.com. Once submitted, please allow up to 4 hours for our Client Services team to confirm your registration. If you wish to bid sooner, please contact us.

Documents required for corporate bidders:

  • Certificate of Incorporation, showing the company's full name and registered address
  • Documentary confirmation of each beneficial owner owning 25% or more of the company
  • A copy of a government-issued photo identification (a driving license or passport) for the authorized signatory showing their full name and date of birth, and, if not shown on the ID document, proof of their current address (a utility bill or bank statement)
  • If the authorized signatory is not a director, a letter on company letterhead confirming the individual's authority to act.

All other entities – for example, trusts, institutions and estates – should contact Client Services for assistance on the documents required.
