While colored stones are now achieving strong prices – a recent Bonhams survey showed rubies in most demand followed by Kashmir sapphires and then Burmese sapphires and Colombian emeralds – diamonds have certainly not lost their allure as their ubiquity at this year's Oscar ceremony showed. As the rarest, yellow diamonds have a particular fascination and cachet – the T iffany deep canary Yellow diamond, for example, is among the world's finest and most famous and this ring boasted an especially fine 22.57 yellow diamond set regally between shield shaped diamond shoulders.
