New York - Bonhams New York Jewels sale on May 23 saw impressive results for several important collections presented in the sale. A highlight of the sale was the 'Collection of an International Lady', which presented 64 exceptional pieces and was 99% sold. This was led by a Fancy Pink 6.22 carat diamond ring which achieved US$1.2 million. Another significant lot in the collection, a Fancy Yellow 10.61 carat diamond ring, sold for four times its estimate at US$242,000.

The 259-lot sale made a total of US$4.9 million with 86% sold by lot and 97% sold by value.

Highlights of the sale include:

• 'Property from a Beverly Hills Jewelry Collection' saw all 14 pieces sold and was led by an important Cartier diamond ring which surpassed its estimated when it sold for US$223,000.

• Thirty-two lots from the 'Estate of Jane Ecclestone Chapin' were 100% sold and highlighted by a Kunz 6.68 carat diamond ring which sold for US$197,000 and a Van Cleef & Arpels diamond and multicolored sapphire necklace and earring suite which achieved more than three times its estimate at $102,000.

• 'Property from the Estate of Elizabeth Simon' consisted of 30 designs by Andrew Grima and was highlighted by a rare Omega 18 karat gold and smoky Quartz 'elegance' wristwatch, circa 1970 which sold for more than double its estimate at US$41,000 as well as a 1967 diamond bracelet with a floral design which sold for US$28,000.
