Nate Borgelt is Head of Bonhams Watches department in America, based in New Mexico, New York and California. He joined in 2021 with over 15 years of experience in the auction industry as a specialist in watches, clocks and automata. His areas of expertise include mid-century sports watches, early 20th century wristwatches and desk clocks from companies such as Patek Philippe, Cartier, Audemars Piguet and Rolex.
Nate began his auction career in the Bids department at Christie's, followed by roles as a watches expert at Antiquorum and Patrizzi & Co., two auction houses dedicated to timepieces. From 2013-19, he was Senior Specialist and Head of Sale for the Watches department at Sotheby's in New York, where he was pivotal for many notable sales - including previously unknown Breguet Chronometers; a Cartier tortoise clock; the Titanium Collection; Swiss Mechanical Marvels Collection; and Sotheby's New York's first thematic Watches auction in a decade with a celebration of the Omega Speedmaster on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Following this, Nate moved to New Mexico to become COO of a regional auction house, before he was drawn back to the pace of an international auction house by joining Bonhams Watches.
