Known today in the gem trade as "kosmochlore-jade", previously used names for maw-sit-sit in the West were jade-albite or chloromelanite. A metamorphic rock with a complex composition from Myanmar (Burma), the name maw-sit-sit is given by the local people. This is a mineral which has become increasingly sought-after in the last few years. The present bead necklace was obtained in Burma over 30 years ago and exhibits an exemplary verdant green hue. The single strand bead necklace composed of 36 spherical beads, total weight approximately 432.77 carats (86.55 grams), with 18K yellow gold bead spacers and an 18K yellow gold s-form clasp, length 20 in.
